Poached Pears

This is my one of my favourite dishes of Autumn , super simple and delicious

8 ripe pears
3 cups water
1 cup raw sugar
Juice of ½ a lemon
1 cinnamon stick


In a pot, add the sugar, water, lemon juice and cinnamon and simmer till the sugar has dissolved.
In the meantime, peel and core the pears and cut into halves, add to the pot.
Simmer for 10-15 until pears are softened. Then remove the pears using a slotted spoon to serving bowls.
Increase the temperature to Hugh and bring the syrup to boil for 5-10 mins or until its thickened up slightly.
Remove the cinnamon. Drizzle syrup over pears.

Serve the pears hot or cold.
